Mixed Media on Plywood (36x48in)
I grew up in a big family.. Fourteen aunts and uncles, from Texarkana, TX.
A billion cousins, and extended family, numbers are crazy!
Until one knocks it out the running, this original portrait remains one of my favorite photos (though it’s missing two of my aunts)
This was taken in 1975, and I‘d bet money it was at a Penny’s.
Family has always been big to me and I wanted to start with that idea.
I have a personal connection with every single one of my aunts and uncles, and a story to match.
Family.
Fathers. Mothers. Singers. Teachers. Electricians. Veterans. Dancers. Pastors. Artists. Providers. Chefs. Addicts. Interior Designers. Caregivers. Athletes. Comedians. Human.
Family ain’t what it used to be.
This, Is My America.
A country so rich that it has become blind to what really matters.
